Recruitment of Sailors in Indian Navy :
Indian Navy is one of the most important force of Indian Armed forces. It is well balanced and cohesive three dimensional force of India. It operates its works on the surface and under the surface of the oceans. It has three commands – The Western Naval Command, The Eastern Naval Command and The Southern Naval Command.
An announcement has been made by Indian Navy for the recruitment of sports persons as Sailors in pay scale of Rs. 5200 – 20200 plus other allowance per month. Regarding to which, applications on prescribed form are invited from the unmarried sports persons by 08.05.2012 along with all essential documents. Applicants who have participated at International / National / State / University level in below mentioned game can apply to secretary in prescribed format. Recruitment details for the appointment of sailor in Indian Navy : -
Batch – Sports Quota Entry – 02/2012 Batch
Sports disciplines - Candidates must have participated at International / National / State / University level in any one of Athletics, Aquatics, Basketball, Boxing, Best physique, Cricket, Golf, Football, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Weight lifting, Wrestling, Squash and Tennis.
Entry Type / Course with qualification, sports proficiency, age limit is given : -
1. Direct Entry Petty Officer
Educational Qualification : Candidates must have completed 10+2 in any discipline from recognized board.
Sports Proficiency : -
i. Team Games - Applicants should have participated at International / National / State level at junior / senior level or represented a university in the Inter university tournament.
ii. Individual Events - Occupied at least 6th position in Nationals ( Senior ) or 3rd position in Nationals ( Junior ) or 3rd position in Inter university meets.
Age - 17 – 22 years as on the date of commencement of course.
2. Senior Secondary Recruitment ( SSR )
Educational Qualification - Qualified 10+2 in any discipline from any recognized university.
Age - Applicants’ age should be between 17 – 21 years as on date of commencement of course.
3. Matric Recruits ( MR )
Educational Qualifications : Matriculation from state / central government board.
Age limit - Candidates’ age should be between 17 years and 21 years as on the date of commencement of course.
4. Non Matric Recruits ( NMR )
Educational Qualification - Candidates should be passed VIth Standard from government school.
Age limit - Candidates should be between the age of 17 years and 21 years as on date of commencement of course.
Sports Proficiency for SSR / MR / NMR - Candidates should have participated at International / National / State Level or represented a University in the Inter University Tournament
Pay Scale - During training, applicants will be paid Rs. 5700 /- per month. After completion of training, applicants will be paid salary in pay scale of Rs. 5200 – 20200 /- plus other allowance per month.
Selection procedure - Trials and Medical examination.
Medical standards - Height – 157 cm and Weight and chest should be proportionate. Minimum expansion of chest is 5 cm.

Some important points -
i. Background of photograph should be blue and Candidates must write their Name and Sign on reverse of photograph. One additional photograph should be submitted.
ii. Application must be enclosed within a Brown colour envelope and Type of entry, sports discipline with achievement should be written at top of envelope.
iii. Candidates will be disqualified if they send more than one applications.
